Come on by the Gross Park field house (2708 W Lawrence) to pick up packets of native pollinator plant seeds including milkweed, smooth blue aster, butterfly weed, spiderwort, native grasses and more while supplies last!
We will have plenty of information to help you learn about native plants that support Chicago's native butterfly, bee, and other pollinator populations. A local ecologist, Alex Barnes, will also be stationed at the native gardens west of the field house providing demos for successful cold stratification.
If you have collected seeds from your own garden that you would like to share with neighbors, please bring them along! Having them packaged in an easy to distinguish/easy to grab way would be very helpful. Any donated seeds that are not distributed will be donated to a local seed library.
Be sure to learn how to get involved with GRO and Gross Park Advisory Council’s native garden programs while you’re there. And don’t forget to connect with other neighbors that have been gardening for years or heading into this Spring as a green thumb. Information on Spring programming at Gross Park will also be available — along with the classic outdoor sport opportunities they have some incredible caregiver-tot programs running inside.
See you there!
