GRO Monthly Meeting

Neighborhood Clean Up
Join GRO’s Sustainability Committee for another fall neighborhood garden cleanup day. We’ll meet at 1:00PM and work together until around 3:00PM
Tasks include removing leaves from sewers, relocating leaves to corner gardens as mulch, spreading woodchip mulch, cleaning up trash, collecting seeds, and planting bulbs if the ground is not completely frozen!
Meet us back together around 3:00 PM to drop off any borrowed supplies. If you own a trowel, gloves, and/or pruners, please bring them. All ages are welcome! :)
GRO Neighborhood Tree Walk
Get to know the trees in our neighborhood! Join us on a tour of some of our community's notable trees, identify some trees that do well in urban areas, and learn the basics of how you can be a better tree steward. Tour led by Openlands Tree Keeper, landscape architect, and GRO corner gardener Sarah White.

Part of the Dank Haus Neighbor Nights, enjoy a beverage and a round or two of euchre with your neighbors. A perfect place to meet your neighbors and socialize! All proceeds support the DANK Haus Museum.

GRO Garden Walk
Join GRO for another year of ogling your neighbors’ carefully curated gardens. This year we expect to have even more gardens on the map! We are accepting any gardens that are inside or within 0.25 miles of GRO's official boundaries (between Montrose and Lawrence, between Western and the river).
This year we will also be having a ‘Host VIP hour’ from 10am-11am to take a sneak peek at each other's gardens.

At this watershed-wide cleanup, thousands of community members, families, and companies work in and along the 156-mile Chicago-Calumet River system at over 80 locations throughout the city and suburbs.

Jacob Park Earth Day Cleanup
Come join your neighbors with GRO in the city-wide Earth Day cleanup on Saturday, April 18th in collaboration with the Chicago Park District and Friends of the Parks!

Seed Swap and Give Away
Come on by the Gross Park field house (2708 W Lawrence) to pick up packets of native pollinator plant seeds including milkweed, smooth blue aster, butterfly weed, spiderwort, native grasses and more while supplies last!

Our meetings are informal and feature hyper-local information. Come meet your neighbors and contribute to the community!
We meet the first Wednesday of each month at Waters Elementary School in the annex located at 4540 N Campbell Ave.
The doors unlock at 6:00PM for some social time and the meetings start promptly at 6:30PM.
